The United Nations – which has no other pressing issues to deal with – has decided that the UK’s austerity policies are a human rights violation.
The UN’s Human Rights Committee said that austerity measures introduced by the UK government since 2010 have hurt wellbeing in the country so much that it counts as a human rights violation.

Their report claims: “The Committee is concerned that the State party has not undertaken a comprehensive assessment of the cumulative impact of such measures on the realization of economic, social and cultural rights, in a way that is recognized by civil society and national independent monitoring mechanisms.”

The report will raise eyebrows for singling out Britain for its austerity measures, while letting France off with a vague criticism of their international aid policy.
Accusing Britain of human rights violations might not go down so well given the UN welcomes Saudi Arabia on its Human Rights Council and slammed Israel as the worst country on earth for women (yes, really).
