The conviction of Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary for terror-related offences has shone a spotlight on the total failure of Twitter and YouTube to co-operate with British police over matters of national security.

It can now be reported that the US social media giants ignored requests by anti-terrorism police to remove Choudary’s online posts – even after he was arrested for inviting  support for Islamic State. These details emerged during his trial at the Old Bailey in London.

Indeed, amazingly, Choudary still has a functioning twitter account – despite the fact he is about to go to prison for 10 years.

This is his most recent post:

Compare this to the treatment of Milo Yiannopoulos, who has been expelled from Twitter for allegedly violating its “hateful conduct policy”.

Milo’s spat with an actress was considered worse by the Twitter chiefs than Choudary encouraging hundreds of people to join a barbaric cult which rapes, tortures and murders.

How glorious.
