One of the EU’s top figures, European Council President Donald Tusk, came to Downing Street today to make nice with Theresa May.
While the two leaders smiled for the cameras and acted like the best of friends, Tusk received a rather less warm welcome for another Downing Street resident.
Tusk felt the ire of Larry the cat, who made a sharp exit from the building as soon as the Eurocrat walked in.
Larry – who earns his keep by sniffing out rats – was snapped in defiant pose outside by Sky News correspondent Darren McCaffrey moments later.

Perhaps Larry remembers Tusk’s role in David Cameron’s disastrous “renegotiation” with the EU, which he hoped would persuade voters to stay in the union.
Tusk was the central figure in hashing out the deal – widely criticised as a stitch-up – and flew around European capitals in a blaze of publicity meant to dramatise the paltry offering.

He was also one of the wildest proponents of the Project Fear narrative during the referendum, warning that a Brexit vote could literally bring about the end of the world.
Ten days before the vote he told reporters: “As a historian I fear that Brexit could be the beginning of the destruction of not only the EU but also of western political civilization in its entirety.”
Happily, his dire warning now appears to have been put aside. But the British people – and their cats – have long memories.
We congratulate Larry for bringing some heat to Downing Street.
