What’s even more absurd than Lib Dem leader Tim Farron comparing himself to liberal Canadian superhunk PM Justin Trudeau?
The tacit admission that he isn’t fond enough of any of his MPs to risk getting stuck in a lift with them.
In a somewhat optimistic interview with BuzzFeed News, Farron was peppered with a series of quick-fire questions, about TV, pizza, and his favourite emoji.
The final exchange went like this:
Which MP would you least like to be stuck in a lift with? Ah that’s a bit cruel.
OK which MP would you *most* like to be stuck in a lift with? I’ve always liked the avuncular Gary Streeter [Tory MP for South Devon].
It must be said that, to Heat Street at least, Mr Streeter looks like jolly good fun:

But other Lib Dem MPs reading might wonder why none of them is Mr Farron’s ideal lift buddy, whom, after all, you would want to be somebody you trust and believe to be competent and reliable.
You could fit all the Lib Dem MPs in a people carrier and the Scottish Labour one on a space hopper. Weird thought.

I’m sure the rest of the Lib Dem PLP – all seven of them – will be deeply upset to have been snubbed en masse by their leader.
