Just when we thought ditching the European Union may actually become a reality, a letter sent to David Cameron yesterday signed by over 1,000 British lawyers suggests otherwise.
They and their high-handed agenda, frankly, can bore off.
The legal worthies urged the government to launch “independent investigation” into the referendum that was “only advisory”.
Describing it as “not legally binding”, Philip Colvin QC called for a Parliamentary vote after a Royal Commission reviews “the benefits, costs and risks of triggering Article 50 to the UK as a whole”.

The letter – and its elitist brigade of signatories – is an insult to the voice of 17.4 million British voters.
It is more evidence of the classism that has bubbled under the surface of British politics for decades, and has reared an ugly head in post-referendum Britain.
Calls for an Establishment review of Brexit undermines the political competence of the British public. It infers that anyone who voted Leave didn’t know what they were voting for, and need their hands held by the political elite.
It is underpinned by the toxic view that your vote only counts if you have degree, that only the “right” opinions will be heard, and your decision at the poll only matters if you understand the law.
The Brexit-bashing lawyers, politicians, MPs, journalists and celebrities should have no role castigating the outcome of a nationwide vote.

This legal luvvies’ intervention strive to prove otherwise. They show that, for many, politics is still decided by position. Anyone who believes in a civilised, libertarian, progressive and democratic Britain should do the utmost in their power to demand more.
Thankfully, with the assurance of PM-in-waiting Theresa May that “Brexit means Brexit”, the plans of the moral elite to undo the vote of June 23rd look more unlikely that ever.
