Tesco has denied participating in an anti-Scottish conspiracy after it removed the nation’s flag from millions of punnets of strawberries.
The supermarket had its feet held to the flames by Socttish nationalists who noticed that the white and blue Saltire was no longer displayed on packs of Scottish strawberries.

Initially the store said that the berry branding changed after complaints from patriotic Englishmen who noticed that produce from their homeland was not sold under the flag of St George.
But after an online nationalist uprising, which saw furious supporters of Scottish independence demand their flag back, the store changed its tune.
A spokesman told Heat Street that tweets blaming English complaints were wrong, and that the design had been changed to bring “consistency” to its fruit packaging.
Now all Scots berries will be branded with the Union Flag, under which English strawberries are also sold.
In response to reports that Scottish so-called cybernats are mounting a vengeance campaign of complaints to reinstate the Saltire, Tesco said it would “listen to customer feedback”.
