Social media users were able to capture footage of a terrorist attack in Berlin as it happened on Monday.
A truck barreled through one of Berlin’s famous German Christmas Markets, not far from the city’s main shopping center. When the truck reached the busy attraction, Breitsheidplatz, it reportedly jumped the sidewalk and drove directly into a crowd of people.
The attack, which authorities are now calling deliberate, killed nine people and wounded more than 50. German police say they have made one arrest, and others may be imminent.
Twitter and Facebook users were able to get photographs and real time video of the attack, allowing social media denizens across the globe to witness the horror firsthand.
