Incredible scenes in Scottish politics today – a poll has predicted that the Tories will beat Labour north of the border for the first time in a century.
That the SNP will win the upcoming Scottish Parliament elections is beyond question.

But a blue surge from Ruth Davidson’s Scottish Conservatives, predicted by an STV poll today, could see the start of a fight-back against the SNP’s effective one-party state.
STV News poll (seats, via @scotlandvotes):
SNP 71 (+2)
Tories 23 (+8)
Labour 20 (-17)
Green 9 (+7)
LibDem 6 (+1)https://t.co/oJ1gCH5AW0— (((StephenDaisley))) (@JournoStephen) April 27, 2016
Analysis of the predicted results – based on the Tories beating Labour in regional “list” seats and coming a close third in constituencies – would see them come out with three more MSPs.
STV calculates it would be the first time Labour has come third in a national Scottish poll since 1910.

There has been precious little evidence of a “Corbyn Surge” north of the border, while Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale was the only party leader to poll with a negative personal rating.
By contrast, Ruth Davidson’s personal touch appears to be working – and her promise to provide real opposition to the rampant SNP may be cutting through.
