Pamela Anderson paid gushing tribute to her close friend Julian Assange in a TV interview – triggering more speculation that the two are romantically involved.
Anderson talked up “heroic” Assange, who she called a champion of “true news”, in an appearance on the TV chat show Loose Women.
The former Baywatch pin-up has been a confidant of Assange for many months, and has paid frequent visits to him at his bolthole in Ecuador’s embassy in London.
Speculation from celebrity watchers has been alive to the possibility of a liaison between the two for some time.
Anderson has been visiting Assange at least once a month since October, and has brought the incarcerated activist a variety of treats – including vegan cheeseburgers – which he would struggle to source by himself.
Anderson voluntarily started talking about Assange in her TV appearance (above), but was coy about what the two discuss during their visits.
She said:
I’m always doing something, trying to do something every day, befriending people that are important people in the world like Julian Assange.
I think he’s a very important person and I think that history will look back on him and realise how important he is.
I think WikiLeaks is very heroic and very important and it’s true news. You know it’s hard to find these days so if you want to get something from the horse’s mouth then go to WikiLeaks and you can actually just really find out what’s going on.
I think that’s important in this political climate.
Outlets including the Daily Mail, The Sun and the New York Post’s Page Six column have all speculated about the possibility of a romance.
So far there has been no official comment on the pair’s friendship in either direction.
