Machete-Wielding Terrorist Shouting ‘Allahu Akhbar’ Attacks Policewomen in Belgium Before Being Shot and Killed

In Belgium, a crazed man shrieking “Allahu Akhbar” attacked two policewomen with a machete before being shot and killed.

The latest terror attack in Western Europe occurred outside the main police station in the city of Charleroi, South of Brussels. The policewomen’s injuries were not life-threatening—though one of the women suffered severe lacerations to her face. Both policewomen were reportedly in a guard post set up to provide extra security for the police headquarters.

The attacker was killed by another officer who came to his colleague’s aid.

Belgium’s Prime Minister, who cut short his vacation in the South of France, told broadcaster RTL by phone, “Initial indications very clearly point toward terrorism.”

Interior Minister Jan Jambon called the attack a “vile act.”

Belgium and neighboring France have been gripped by fear in the past year as Islamic terrorists launch attack after attack. The jihadists involved in recent attacks in Paris and Brussels used Charleroi as a base for their operations. Terror attacks on an airport terminal and metro station in Brussels, Belgium’s capital, killed 32 people in March.
