A reassuring thought – this is the man charged with defending us from the threat of global terror.
But Robert Hannigan – the head of GCHQ and therefore Britain’s top spy – obviously didn’t have any major plots to contend with yesterday.
Instead of toppling ISIS, the £160,000-a-year expert was busy playing with a VR headset and giving us a dweeby smile.

For a man with access to more information that almost anyone else on the planet, he looks entirely clueless.
The image, posted by GCHQ staff from the Cheltenham Science Festival, is part of an infantile PR offensive by the agency, which is struggling to attract staff.
Last month the once-secretive agency launched a Twitter account, which seems primarily to be used to follow James Bond and tweet awful jokes at the NSA:

Here’s hoping the pursuit of retweets and terrorists are not mutually exclusive.
