Further Update: Mr. Dickson has admitted that MEPs cannot propose or suggest laws at all in the EU Parliament, so that there is not even indirect democracy.

He has laughed at the idea of Leave supporters committing “suicide in Solihull” “when Jeremy Clarkson makes his massive pro-EU intervention next week”

Update: Mr Dickinson is boasting that his time to propagandise lies on Twitter is costing the British taxpayer £180 plus VAT an hour.

Is it possible that the European Commission would apply their resources to a propaganda campaign to drive a Remain outcome?

That they would tweet lies as facts, call concern about Turkish migration “racist”, and then pretend to be their own husband?

EU JJ

Would they do this during the purdah period in the UK? Surely this is the stuff of the conspiracy theorist, lunatic fringe Brexiteers?

my own husband j

I would have thought so until I had a number of twitter engagements with this man:

Roy Dickinson

So passionate is he about remaining in the EU that he appears to be working full-time on his own campaign.

Not only is he prolific, with daily tweets numbering in the hundreds, but also his tweets are detailed, often cross-referenced to “sources” and illustrated with both graphics and video.

Tweeting under the name Roy Dickinson with the Twitter handle @RJohnDickinson his prolific work was recognised by the Pro-EU activist group @Brexpats:

BUT – haven’t we seen that name before?

Could this be the same Roy Dickinson that led to the European Commission having to apologise to Israel’s Ambassador to the Union, Ron Kuriel, over statements he made claiming that the settlement policy was stifling the Palestinian economy and increasing Palestinian dependence on foreign aid – and therefore costing European citizens in taxes?

That Roy Dickinson is now adviser to José Leandro, head of policy, strategy, coordination and communication in the European Commission Directorate General of Economic and Financial Affairs.

Roy Dickinson’s place in the European Commission hierarchy

The only picture suggested by Google was the profile picture on Twitter. As an advisor he is not often in front of the camera.

We are grateful then to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for documenting this task force meeting in Athens in December 2012:

From the photographs shown It looks like we have found our man – the same Roy Dickinson.

So there we have it, the European Commission appears to be running its own remain campaign actively interfering in the UK referendum.

I say “appears to be”, because on a matter so serious it is proper to give him an opportunity to clarify the situation. So I went back to the place he is so active and asked him:

This morning I went to find my reply, and had one. He appeared to have deleted his Twitter account. What is it you are trying to hide, Roy?

Deleting a Twitter account is quite common when people have been embarrassed or perhaps have behaved in a manner inconsistent with their position. But – such is Roy’s passion for his campaign that he could not bring himself to do it. Look what I found when I went back to @Brexpats:

Confused? Who is EUtylicious (tweeting as @OliverJSimonis) and why is he replying to tweets sent to Roy Dickinson?

Where did he get his time machine from so that they could go back and write this at the very same moment Roy had?

A quick look through the tweets tells us that Roy has simply renamed the account.

He did of course take the precaution of blocking me first:

I captured a number of his tweets in the full expectation that he would do this, so here is a small sample from the original Roy Dickinson:

The tweet slating @ScienceBritain is particularly shocking.

I have emailed Roy Dickinson and José Leandro at the European Commission and will let you know if and when I hear back. In the meantime be careful who you listen to – they MAY have a vested interest.

Louise Mensch:

I caught Mr. Dickinson yesterday in a bare-faced lie, typical of Remain.

The tweet I embedded has now vanished. Dickinson, who is comms staff at the European Commission, was pushing a complete lie as “hard facts” – namely that the UK would be forced to pay tariffs if the UK voted to leave the EU.

Fake scare

This is patent nonsense. Treaties offer a two year negotiation period and nobody can say as a “hard fact” what any part of that outcome would be.

As a Leave supporter, it seems plain to me that France  – a net exporter to the UK – and many others could not afford a tariff war.

But while I might argue this is probable, I would not put out an infographic calling it a “hard fact”.

We simply don’t know.

Mr. Dickinson is also still tweeting inane threats about what Germany would do, couched in hysterical language:

scare

The fact this European Commission communications staffer is tweeting lies at the British public surely requires his resignation.

Furthermore, Mr. Dickinson has RTed a tweet saying concern about Turkish migrants in the EU is “racist”:

EU JJ

It is not for the staffers of that wretched public drunk, M. Juncker, the Commission President, to try to influence this vote.

Furthermore, Mr. Dickinson should know that the internet never forgets. In this google cache link, Heat Street readers can see for themselves Dickinson’s propaganda and insults under his fake Twitter name of “Oliver J Simonis

Of course, as we can see in the shots above, Dickinson was still ID’ed as “Roy Dickinson” by Twitter.

So, to cover his tracks, he changed the handle’s name to “EUtylicious” (so, so, so sad) – update: And is now pretending to be his own husband:

https://twitter.com/OliverJSimonis/status/739825746445799424

But Mr. Dickinson is the tweeter – the account has not changed, and it is easy to see that.

The EC should also answer as to how many of their other staffers are out there madly tweeting Remain propaganda – pure lies as Mr. Dickinson was pushing at me.

We have sought urgent comment from the European Commission and will update when we get a substantive reply.

“Enjoy” these screenshots in the meantime.
