David Cameron’s imminent departure from Downing Street will bring with it a slew of lost privileges – but few so irritating as hardly getting to use his new Prime Ministerial plane.

Cameron’s government confirmed their intention to revamp an RAF Voyager, nicknamed Cam Force One, in a budget update last year.

But the £10million refit has only just finished – and the Prime Minister was only able to take a single trip on it – to a NATO summit in Warsaw, Polnad – before stepping down.

When Cameron commandeered the jet, he seemed likely to serve more or less up to a general election in May 2020.

Even when he announced his intention to resign after losing the Brexit referendum, he thought there would be several months – and several flights – before his time was up.

Alas, his time was cut short today when Andrea Leadsom stepped aside, leaving the coast clear for Theresa May to take over on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister has in the past showed off his “common touch” by flying EasyJet to salt-of-the-earth destinations like Lanzarote.

Looks like his escape from cattle class may have been short-lived…
