Catalogue Of Terror: How Europe Fell Under Attack In 2016
Last night’s atrocity in Berlin has left 12 people dead and an estimated 50 injured.
This list charts all major attacks in Europe during 2016:
- December 19 – 12 killed and about 50 injured in Berlin Christmas Market attack by a truck driven by a suspected Pakistani asylum seeker
- July 26 – Catholic priest aged 84 murdered by two Isis attackers while saying Mass in Rouen, northern France
- July 24 – Mohammad Daleel, 27, a Syrian refugee denied asylum, detonates a suicide bomb at a wine bar in Ansbach, Germany, injuring 15 people
- July 24 – A Syrian refugee with a machete murders a woman and injures two others near Stuttgart, Germany
- July 22 – David Sonboly, 18, a German-Iranian, kills nine people at a Munich shopping centre and then shoots himself. He had been in psychiatric care
- July 18 – A 17-year-old Afghan refugee with an axe and knife injures 18 people on a train in southern Germany
- July 14 – 86 people killed and 434 injured in Nice when Tunisian terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel drives a truck into a crowd
- March 22 – 32 people killed and more than 300 injured in three nail bomb explosions in Brussels: two at Zaventem airport and one at a Metro station. An IS terror cell linked to the 2015 Paris attacks is held responsible
