Labour peer Lady Chakrabarti, Jeremy Corbyn’s latest instrument in his revolutionary struggle, is for sale.

The top notch JLA agency is touting the baroness around as an after-dinner or conference speaker who will deliver the goods if it’s a lecture on social responsibility you’re after. There’s no mention of her experience in tackling matters relating to anti-semitism.

As a category ‘C’ orator she costs between £2,500 and £5,000 per engagement.

According to feedback from one JLA client, the Francis Crick Institute, “the audience was charmed and inspired” by Chakrabarti “and everyone learnt something!”

If the JLA work dries up, at least from now on she can take advantage of a new income stream courtesy of British taxpayers simply by clocking in at the Lords, where a daily appearance fee comes in at about £300.

Whether she will charm and inspire many of her new noble friends in the upper chamber is another matter, as Labour peer Lord Mitchell told Heat Street this summer.

But overall it’s win-win for Lady C, thanks to Corbyn.

He went against all his principles by giving his friend this unelected job for life – ensuring in the process that Chakrabarti’s son can use the prefix ‘Honourable’ should he so desire.
