Japanese car giant Toyota was fiercely anti-Brexit right up until the referendum on June 23. It looks like their pro-EU position didn’t last long.
Parliamentary records show that on July 7 it spent £6,000 sponsoring a reception in the Epsom constituency of leading Brexiteer Chris Grayling.
So great was Toyota’s animus towards the Brexit camp, it supposedly considered suing the Vote Leave campaign for including its logo on a flyer.
A likely story.
Toyota’s £6,000 may turn out to be money well spent. A week after the reception, Grayling was appointed Transport Secretary in Theresa May’s new government.
