Is it not just plain bizarre that Angela Eagle suddenly thinks she is capable of replacing Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party?

Less than a year ago, Eagle tapped various sources – mainly trades unions – for almost £90,000 to fund her bid to become Labour’s deputy leader.

This was a total and utter waste of money.

She limped home in fourth place in that contest having been eliminated in the second round with 17.9% of the vote.

So the undeniable evidence is that in September 2015 Eagle was not popular enough to become deputy leader – yet in July 2016 she thinks she is popular enough to become leader and, by extension, prime minister-in-waiting.

Seriously?

Ladbrokes has today installed Eagle at 5/2 to become the next Labour leader.

The same firm has Corbyn at 4/7 to stay put for at least another six months.

Perhaps Eagle ought to return to her eyerie.
