In an attempt to streamline the response to questions, Google has instituted a “snippet” feature. When asking a question like “what time is it in London,” Google users get the answer in a box at the top of the search results. These answer boxes are great for simple questions, but results may vary wildly for more complex ones.
As reported by Outline, Google snippet answers are “worse than fake news,” libeling ex-presidents as KKK members and claiming Obama was planning a coup.
But the snippet box can even be highly offensive, giving definitive answers to super touchy questions about race. Here’s a demo for education purposes.
Ok Google, “Who created white people.”
The Google snippet claims that the white race was created by the evil black scientist Yakub, as written about by Elijah Muhammad, the founder of The Nation of Islam. Sounds about right.
OK Google, “Are white people racist?”
Yep.
OK Google, “Is reverse racism real?”
Nope.
OK Google, “What is the worst race?
Black people! WTF Google, why are you so racist!
OK Google, “What is the best race?”
Hmmm Nords, the white race of the fantasy video game Skyrim. Shame on you Google, you f—king racist, everyone knows the Argonian lizard people are the best race in Skyrim.
And speaking of lizard people, OK Google, “Which presidents are lizard people.”
