When he’s not collecting obscure drug patents, Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli is trying his hand at collecting Magic the Gathering cards. The former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals and sole owner of Wu Tang’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin album, took to Reddit for advice building his deck.

Advice for a new and wealthy player from magicTCG

Some of the Redditors were annoyed at Shkreli’s foray into the game, as these “reserved list” cards are extremely rare and will not be reprinted. Magic is already having its own problem with people buying up cards off the internet in order to steeply increase their value. Ironically enough one collector is being called the Martin Shkreli of Magic.” So it’s no surprise people aren’t eager to see the real Martin Shkreli enter the scene and jack the prices up higher than a bottle of Daraprim.

But some people saw Shkreli as an unlikely hero to the game. If Shkreli uses his pharma bucks to buy out the “reserved list,” it may force Wizards of the Coast to print more cards. His douchebaggery could be catalyst to fixing a broken system.

Shkreli plans to invest up to $500,000 in a collection. Could this be for the good of the world, a rare act of good from a man known far and wide only for his villainy?

We’ll have to wait and see, although considering this is Marin Shkreli, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
