YouTube’s biggest and possibly most anti-semiticYouTuber (since Evalion got banned) PewDiePie had a rough last week after a Wall Street Journal expose called him out on a string of Nazi jokes. The piece caused him to lose a deal with Disney and a show on YouTube Red. The media blasted The Pewds for wearing a Nazi uniform, his libertine use of historical Hitler clips, and paying two Indian boys to dance around with a sign that said “Death to All Jews.”
Following the article an Internet debate raged on whether the jokes were taken out of context and whether PewDiePie was actually a Nazi sympathizer. While the preeminent white supremacist fanzine, The Daily Stormer, would have you believe PewDiePie had joined their ranks, the YouTube community stood by Pewds, saying he was just the normal level of racist you find on YouTube.
But consider the debate settled now.
PewDiePie made a new video where he not only doesn’t say anything anti-Semitic for over five minutes, but he also KILLS Hitler. Yep, the Pewds is back, guys! No one can say he’s a Nazi now after he shot the Nazi leader, chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler in the testicles… in the new game Sniper Elite 4.
Sure, one may argue this could be a classic crypto-fascist ploy, that the “lady doth protest too much,” that the best way to hide the fact you are a Nazi would, of course, be to shoot Hitler in the balls. But there’s just something so genuine about the way the Pewds jumps in joy after a successful hit on target.
He must be telling the truth. So as a member of the media, I am willing to forgive PewDiePie and will no longer flippantly refer to him as “Millionaire Hate Speech YouTuber” in headlines.
