Ubiquitous online video streaming service, Netflix, is bringing back the old-fashioned video rental store in virtual reality. As part of the most recent Netflix hack day, three developers created a VR showroom called The Netflix Zone.

Netflix movie categories appear as different shelves (including ones for personalized recommendations) that hold different selections as VHS cassette tapes. Users can pick up tapes to view more information, toss it on the floor, or throw it up to the film screen overhead if they’re interested in watching. For certain tapes, like Netflix original series, Daredevil, a themed environment pops up: the Manhattan skyline rises and fills the room when users select it.
