Tyson Beckford, famous underwear model and Derek Zoolander’s cornerman in the movie’s iconic dance-off, took it upon himself to make a public statement on the recent police shootings of black men.

Beckford, who is of both African and Chinese descent, decided to add to the conversation by blaming video games.

“We might have to send some cops back to training because this is a generation of the computer games and video games, so I think a lot of cops, when they hold their gun, they’re so trigger happy and want to use it instead of de-escalating the situation,” Beckford said to TMZ. “And I think they need to learn more of that and less gun and use more Tasers and things of that nature.”

Whatever your opinion may be about the cause of so many officer-involved shootings, video games probably aren’t at the top of your list. Maybe if Beckford attended the “Derek Zoolander School for Kid’s Who Can’t Read Good,” he’d be able to parse some of the studies debunking the connection between real and video game violence.

But at least Beckford broke the silence. There can’t be a national tragedy in this country without games being blamed at least once. Someone needed to keep the streak going.
