Kanye West has long planned total world domination, and today, he is one step closer.
West released a trailer for his video game, Only One, at the E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo, featuring his mother’s journey to heaven, and fulfilling another goal in the “lifestyle” segment of his “categories of influence organization chart” from his “communications company.”
It may, in fact, be the most Kanye West thing to ever happen to the world of gaming.
The Life of Pablo hip-hop artist decided to release the game following his mother’s untimely death in 2007, from surgery complications and heart disease. Making the game, Kanye told fans in February, was a “difficult process,” that involved silencing a number of Silicon Valley critics who, “dissed the fuck out of [him],” and who weren’t sure a woman riding a unicorn to heaven would capture the attention of ardent gamers.
The game was finally developed by Encyclopedia Pictura, a trio of off-the-grid artists known for their avant garde work (just check out what they did for Bjork). The concept art for the game, which has been in production since 2015, is absolutely stunning. The music is supposed to be Kanye West having imaginary conversations with his mother on her way to the pearly gates.
The footage is similar to sneak peeks he’s given since earlier this year as par tof his fashion show and album debut,
There is no indication as of yet what platform the game will be available on, how you play it, or if you even actually play it at all. If Kanye’s other ventures are any indication, it may cost several hundred dollars, be slightly incomplete, and involve hundreds of options for download.
