Thanks to the tireless work of Heat Street researchers, using our patent-pending cartoon bulge analysis, Garfield has been confirmed a MAN by the series creator Jim Davis.
The debate over Garfield’s gender began when godless, “brocialist,” “satirist,” blogger Virgil Texas announced on Twitter that Garfield has “no gender,” rendering the cartoon cat gender fluid, forever adrift in gender space, never to know the joys of gender certainty.
Texas used a 2014 quote from Davis where he said that Garfield was neither a boy or a girl, which sparked an “edit war” on Wikipedia. Users changed Garfield’s gender between male and none 20 times in the span of three days.
But now the battle is over and cultural Marxism lost once again.
The Washington Post reached out to Davis, who said, “Garfield is male. He has a girlfriend, Arlene.”
The article also generously quoted Heat Street’s evidence that Garfield’s alter-ego Garzooka in Garfield’s Pet Force had a “prominent bulge.” I would like to believe that was the final word on the matter, but confirmation from the series creator is fine too.
Now that the god-fearing patriots of the American right have the momentum, we can take this issue further. Not only is Garfield a MAN, but he’s also a member of the MGTOW movement (Men Going Their Own Way), an offshoot Men’s Rights Activism.
The men of MGTOW believe they do not need women to find happiness and fulfillment and caution men against any and all romantic relationships with women, especially marriage.
There is extensive evidence in the comic strip which places Garfield squarely in the MGTOW camp. In 1979 Garfield stated “We boys cherish our bachelorhood. I come from a long line of bachelors.”
In 1983 Garfield mused of marriage and children, before stating “I’d make a lousy father,” abandoning the idea of growing a nuclear family with the female sex.
I have made the appropriate changes to Wikipedia and hope the other honest editors see to its permanence.
