The 2016 Republican primary seems but a distant memory, yet still holds a special place in our hearts. Who can forget “pathological” Ben Carson, or “Please Clap” Jeb, or that one time Marco Rubio talked about Donald Trump’s penis.
Well now you can recapture the glory days, not by watching old CNN clips, but by playing this Japanese dating simulator!
Grand Old Academy, a dating sim raising development money on Kickstarter, lets you play as a Japanese teenager looking for love among the Republican primary candidates.
Here’s the description from the creator.
You are Mori America, a Japanese transfer student entering Grand Old Academy, a prestigious private high school in the United States. You arrive just in time to watch the first round of the debate club championship, the most anticipated and important event of the school year. As you start to befriend seven of the debaters, you realize that there may be more to them than what they show on the stage… and that they’re all eligible bachelors.
As the field of competitors narrows, the tension rises and conflicts begin to boil over. Loyalties will be tested, friendships shattered, and alliances dissolved. But throughout the chaos, one thing remains steadfast as a constant beacon of hope: teen romance.
The candidates are aged down, of course, so it’s totally not creepy at all, and according to the game’s creator Robert Amster there unfortunately won’t be any sexually explicit content.
The game will play like any other Japanese dating sim except for the fact the characters will be Republican politicians. You must earn their trust, then their hearts, to win the game.
The Kickstarter has been up two days and unfortunately has only raised a mere $1,000 out of the $13,500 goal. I’m sure this game appeals to more people than the cross section of political junkies and weeaboos, so we can only hope more backers will step in.
Until then all we have is this steamy demo available here.
