‘Cash Me Ousside’ Girl ‘Hack’ Turns Out to Be Lame Publicity Stunt

The media was shocked when Danielle Bregoli, also known as the ‘Cash Me Ousside’ girl,  had her social media accounts hacked by a mysterious group called Face Security Group.

Bregoli became Internet famous after appearing on the Dr. Phil show and threatening to fight members of the audience with her now famous catch phrase, “cash me ousside, how bout dah.”

Multiple “news” outlets lapped up the story about the hacking, despite the fact it was some obvious Mr. Robot bullshit publicity stunt. Bregoli’s Instagram account posted a series of  over-produced, Anonymous-style videos on Tuesday calling her a false idol and threatening to post “leaks.”

“This is the modern day celebrity. This country glorifies and makes famous a young girl for being disrespectful to her mother. She is no role model. She is no idol. She is no God. Pay close attention to what happens next.”

The Daily BeastIBT, In Touch, and many other outlets credulously reported on this obvious stunt, claiming the group hacked the account to wake America up to the monster they were creating.

On Wednesday, Bregoli’s account revealed the ruse, in the form of an anti-climactic music video made by an artist called Glassface. Duh.

I personally don’t care when the media falls for fake news pertaining to national security, global markets or whatever “real” journalists find important. But to fall for such an obvious ruse by Cash Me Ousside girl of all people? Come on, journalists. Do better!
