UPDATE: Facebook apologizes for their mistake. From a Facebook spokesperson:
For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it.
No matter how much you hate Mark Zuckerberg, you probably never thought he would cause the death of billions of people.
But that seems to be the case, as a bizarre Facebook banner above people’s profile pages appears to be telling them they’re dead.

Poor Will Hicks, he had so much left to live for.
Wait a second… I’m Will Hicks. And I’m very much alive, even if some describe me as a dead husk of a human being.
The banner reads “We hope people who love [insert name] will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life.” Then it plugs Facebook’s memorial page tool, which is supposed to be reserved for the actual dead.
It seems Facebook has been callous enough to kill many of their users, even their CEO Mark Zuckerberg!

While it may be a mistake, Facebook must be stopped. Who knows, someone could read this banner and think they are already dead and browsing the web as a ghost. It could happen, trust me.
