For comic creator Shen, comics are his passion. Publishing his works under Owlturd Comix, Shen has amassed quite a following. His bi-weekly and tri-weekly comic series’ are a mix of vanilla observational humor and inoffensive geometric shapes…and it somehow pissed a bunch of people off.
After a recent comic faced a barrage of social justice warrior outrage for being “too ableist,” Shen caved to the pressure and removed the comic (seen below).
The comic was described as “ableist” somehow by many, with critics claiming it discriminated against the purple square for not being “normal.” Some readers felt the comic was an affront to snowflake culture and making fun of people who demand unnecessary accommodations.
Shen deleted it and posted a message explaining both his decision and his intent behind the comic.
His choice, however, was not one that everyone loved. Many commenters saw no need to remove the comic.
The one legitimate issue that was raised was that some commenters used the original comic as an opportunity to make fun of and harass other people for being different. While there is no confirmation that that occurred, as the original comic has been deleted, both the author of the comic (in his message) and commenters pointed out that it did indeed happen.
