After Getting Banned, the Alt Right is Taking Over Another Subreddit

Reddit’s “PussyPass” started as a community to point out gender bias and injustice. The posts were meant to call out women who got away with crimes or other misdeeds based on their gender.

While there may have been an undertone of misogyny and male resentment, most of the top posts were pretty reasonable. The second highest upvoted post of all time was a link to Reason article about a man who was kicked out of college after his sexual partner “withdrew consent” while performing oral sex. Turns out the guy was unconscious the whole time. The sub of 26,000 people was full of these outrage-inducing injustices.

But in the last couple days the community has taken a different direction, towards white nationalism and anti-Semitism.

Apparently the top mod at Pussy Pass, Lord_Henry_James, wanted to make his sub the new home of the alt right, the new white nationalist movement on the right. The former alt right subreddit was shut down earlier this month by Reddit following harassment concerns. Most of its members moved on to the free speech Reddit clone, Voat, to a community called “Identitarian.”

Lord_Henry_James posted on Identitarian telling its users the alt right is welcome on his subreddit. He even added a moderator of Identitarian to PussyPass.

/r/PussyPass is now a place that we can use to redpill normies. They have over 26,000 subscribers, so it’s fertile recruiting ground,” said a mod at Identitarian. “It’s best to think of it as another avenue to grow our numbers. Can’t hurt to drop a few redpills here and there.”

The old users, who felt the sub was a good place to vent about gender injustice, were upset about the abrupt change in direction.

“Seriously though, wtf happened here,” one user wrote.  “This sub used to be just comical outrage about the gender bias in criminal sentencing. Now its an edgy white nationalist outlet for autists?”

Now the subreddit is filled with videos attempting to disprove the holocaust and false statistics on black on white crime.

If the community continues in this direction, there is a high probability Reddit admins will ban them. This is another case of the problem on Reddit of giving moderators sweeping control over a community, which often leads to idiotic power trips like this one.
