It’s been four years since Mitt Romney upended the his presidential candidacy by recounting the “binders full of women” he examined in an effort to diversify his cabinet as governor of Massachusetts.
Remember when Romney's 'binders full of women' comment was considered scandalous? ah, the good old days. https://t.co/fhXpuJf8f8

Seriously, this was an actual scandal in 2012 that “set the internet ablaze” and led to earnest exhortations about why Romney’s “sexist remark should scare women voters.” It’s hard to look back and wrap your head around this in light of recent developments in the 2016 race, but here we are.
As it turns out, Barack Obama also received a “binder full of women,” so to speak, shortly after winning the 2008 election, according to an email published by WikiLeaks on Tuesday. Like Romney, he was interested in hiring qualified female candidates to staff his administration.
In the October 2008 email, Citibank executive and Obama transition team member Mike Froman sent the president-elect a “list of women” to consider for “Cabinet/Deputy and other senior level positions.” Hillary Clinton is on the list, with a note that she ought to be considered for either secretary of state or secretary of health and human services.
Froman also attached a “diversity” list of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Arab/Muslim American and Disabled Americans. Both lists contain hundreds of names.
