Hillary Clinton’s efforts to win black voters were “not resonating,” an African-American journalist wrote in an email to Clinton’s top campaign aides during the Democratic primary. The candidate needed to “sit down with black reporters fast.”

In the August 2015 exchange, published Thursday by WikiLeaks, American Urban Radio Networks correspondent April Ryan wrote: “Hillary Clinton needs to sit down with black reporters fast. Her efforts in the black community are not resonating.”

Ryan added in the body of the email: “I would love to be a part of this sit down hopefully in DC.”

Democrats continue to be concerned about Hillary Clinton’s support among black voters. President Obama recently suggested African-American support for the Democratic nominee “is not as solid as it needs to be.”

Ryan appears in a number of other emails released by WikiLeaks, and indicates that her support for Hillary Clinton is strong, even for a journalist.

“I am working on my Hillary piece for my book and it really is powerful!!!!!” Ryan wrote in an email to top Clinton aides in October 2015. “Please tell her I am thankful!!!”
