Top Democrats who would go on to assume senior roles in the Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign express concern about a Bill Clinton fundraising email because the subject line might be construed as pervy.
The email from “Bill Clinton” was sent in July 2008 after Hillary conceded the Democratic primary to Barack Obama. It was an effort to raise money to pay off campaign debt by offering a chance to win a dinner with Hillary in exchange for a $5 donation.
The email’s subject line — “The person I most want to spend time with” — was not ideal, according to Jennifer Palmieri, who currently serves as a top communications aide for Hillary Clinton.
“Seriously? This is the worse subject line ever in an email from Bill Clinton,” Palmieri wrote to John Podesta, currently the chairman of Hillary’s presidential campaign. Apparently she didn’t think anyone would believe that Bill Clinton actually enjoyed spending time with his nominal wife.
