Senior White House aides Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer could soon find themselves on the receiving end of Donald Trump’s notorious reality-show catch phrase “You’re fired,” according to a number of recent media reports.

Speculation about Spicer’s future in the role of White House press secretary began almost immediately, with reports suggesting Trump thought Spicer’s diminutive statue and light-colored suits didn’t give him the right “look” for the job.

Trump is alleged to have grown further incensed after Spicer was portrayed (and ruthless mocked) by female comedian Melissa McCarthy on Saturday Night Live. According to some reports, the White House has been reaching out to interview possible candidates to replace Spicer. The White House denies this, although that doesn’t seem to count for much these days.

Priebus, the White House chief of staff, was apparently the one who urged Trump to give Spicer the role as White House press secretary, even though the president was said to have some reservations. This appears to have created some tension in the White House in recent weeks, and now Priebus himself has come under fire.

Christopher Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax media and personal friend of Trump’s, told the Washington Post that Trump “has got to make some changes going forward,” and singled out Priebus as someone who “is in way over his head.” Ruddy also said during a CNN appearance on Sunday that “there’s a lot of weakness coming out of the chief of staff.”

Ruddy blamed Priebus for the “botched” rollout of Trump’s controversial executive order on immigration, and said the chief of staff lacked the ability to give Trump both the “backup” and the “pushback” that the president requires. Ruddy told the Post that since the CNN appearance he had received text message from three cabinet officials praising his remarks.
