Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy has inspired a lot of pointless activism. People have come to conclusion that Trump is bad, and are compelled to go on the record expressing their bold views regarding the badness of Trump.
In May, for example, a group of fancy “writers” signed an over-dramatic “open letter to American people” stating their unequivocal opposition to Trump’s candidacy. No one cared, though.
Even fewer people are likely to care about the latest example of pointless anti-Trump activist posturing. Students, alumni, and faculty at Trump’s alma mater, the Wharton School of business at the University of Pennsylvania, have written an a very profound open letter to express their disapproval of the Republican nominee, who frequently invokes his Wharton degree as evidence of his genius.
“We, proud students, alumni, and faculty of Wharton, are outraged that an affiliation with our school is being used to legitimize prejudice and intolerance,” theĀ authors write of Trump. “Although we do not aim to make any political endorsements with this letter, we do express our unequivocal stance against the xenophobia, sexism, racism, and other forms of bigotry that you have actively and implicitly endorsed in your campaign.”
Seriously, though, it’s a cool letter. But no one cares.
