Trump supporters in Cleveland booed Ted Cruz when the Texas senator and former Republican primary candidate refused to endorse Donald Trump.
Chris Christie, who also lost to Donald Trump in the primary, called Cruz’s non-endorsement “awful” and “selfish.”
Cruz signed a pledge to support the GOP nominee, critics complained. But Cruz said they so-called “pledge” was no longer valid because of Trump’s personal attacks on Cruz’s family. Trump retweeted an unflattering picture of Cruz’s wife, Heidi, and suggested that Cruz’s father played a role in the John F. Kennedy assassination.
The Republican Party has attempted to show “unity” during the convention.
