Practically every news organization leads this morning with the story that EgyptAir flight MS804 has crashed in the Mediterranean – a rare break from coverage of Donald Trump.
However, the presumptive GOP nominee didn’t stay out of the fray for long.
An early-morning tweet, posted 6.30am New York time, pinned the cause of the crash as terrorism based on, well, not very much.
Looks like yet another terrorist attack. Airplane departed from Paris. When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? Great hate and sickness!

Aside from pure speculation, all there is to go on is the guesswork of a retired French security expert who went on the radio, and rumors of a ship captain who “saw flames” over the Mediterranean.

At the same time, French president Francois Hollande gave a somber statement which only went so far as to confirm that the plane crashed.

Hollande, 15 of whose citizens were on the Paris-Cairo flight and are now lost, said terrorism is one of many possibilities.
Trump is the only world figure political figure to endorse the idea of an attack this early. “More presidential than anybody”.
