The French Strike Again!

In what has now become a familiar sight, student and worker organizations took to the streets of Paris this Wednesday to protest a proposed labor reform, commonly referred to as “El Khomri” law after the French Labor Minister Myriam El Khomri. If approved, the bill would see an easing of current labor laws and the expansion of the 35 hour workweek – all symbolic, if not sacrosanct, hallmarks of the French Left – marking a significant rightward turn for Francois Hollande’s administration.

The only caveat? Few of the parties in attendance (high-schoolers, anarchists, state owned transport operators) would actually be affected by the legislation… Sacre Bleu! But any excuse for a good ol’ protest, right?
