What time do the polls close?

Polls close at 7 p.m., though anyone in line by then can still vote.

What time will results start rolling in.

“Can’t predict this, but we should start seeing some precincts not long after polls close,” says Dena Potter, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Elections.

Virginia does not have early voting.

To cast an absentee ballot, Virginia voters must meet one of 19 criteria. And absentee ballots aren’t counted until Election Day. Still, this year broke the record with more than 615,000 absentee ballots.

Democrats have recently broken Republicans’ stronghold in the state.

Republican presidential candidates secured Virginia between 1972 and 2004, but Barack Obama broke that winning streak in 2008.
