Talking to the ‘Youths’: Hillary Clinton Launches ‘Hillarymojis’

Hillary Clinton made another effort at talking to “the youths” this week, launching her very own “Hillarymoji” keyboard for IOS.

They keyboard, which includes 20 different Hillary Clinton stickers for a variety of special occasions, including a Hillary-as-Rosie-the-Riveter, Hillary-as-Wonder-Woman, a woman card, and the Statue of Liberty with a Hillary Clinton campaign button. Unlike the keyboard they’re clearly modeled on, Kim Kardashian’s “Kimoji” app, there are no stickers of butts or GIFs of strippers.

The Hillarymoji creators say they put a lot of thought into selecting exactly which stickers would be appropriate for Hillary’s app, since young people are very selective about what they’ll use regularly, and Clinton’s team has had issues with emoji-related failure before.

“We’re very focused on the fact that these can’t be stupid emojis,” the emoji producer, Tanooki Labs, told CNN.  “We put a lot of thought into making it conversational so they’ll actually be used.”

Hillarymoji users can also use the app to donate directly to the Clinton campaign, though for now, it’s just a link to the donate page on her website. And Clinton users are restricted to torturing their friends with their support on text message only. Most social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter still restrict users from using emoji keyboards in their messaging systems.
