Hackers tied to the Russian government accessed the Democratic National Committee’s computer network and stole opposition research on GOP candidate Donald Trump, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The hackers penetrated deep enough into the network to be able to access “all email and chat traffic” among DNC employees, according to the Post, and had access to the DNC network for about a year until they were expelled over the weekend by cyber-security experts.

U.S. officials said the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump also had their computer networks targeted by Russian hackers, along with a number of Republican political action committees, but additional details about those attacks were not available at this time.

The Russian Embassy claimed no knowledge of the attacks.

The intrusions were carried about by two separate teams — “Fancy Bear” and “Cozy Bear” — with ties to Russian military intelligence and the FSB (formerly the KGB), respectively.

Some responded to news of the hack by noting senior Trump adviser Paul Manafort’s ties deep ties to the Russian government and its network of oligarchs loyal to President Vladimir Putin.

Hillary Clinton also has ties to Russian oligarchs.
