Russians Make ‘In Trump We Trust’ Coin to Commemorate Inauguration

Donald Trump appears to have his fair share of fans in Russia. Some of them are celebrating the president-to-be’s inauguration by minting a series of silver and gold commemorative coins to mark the occasion.

The coins, forged at the Russian metal-working firm Art-Grani, features a profile image of Trump on one side, along with his full name (Donald John Trump), and the Statute of Liberty on the other, along with the words, “In Trump We Trust.”

In an interview with Associated Press Television News, the company’s director suggested that the Russian people are optimistic about a Trump presidency: “There are more hopes associated with Trump with regards to the lifting of sanctions; maybe the environment [of U.S-Russia relations] will change.”

The company has made a number of other commemorative coins, including one honoring Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other to celebrate the Russian annexation of Crimea in Ukraine. Art-Grani executive are reportedly eager to present to the coin to Trump himself, and have arranged a meeting with Russian diplomats to show off the coin.

A total of 45 coins have been minted thus far, five in gold and the rest in silver. The silver ones are expected to be valued at a “few thousand dollars.”
