The Palestinian Authority picked a very bad name for a summer camp in the West Bank.
The “Brothers of Dalal” youth camp was named after a local heroine, Dalal Mughrabi, who led a 1978 hijacking of an Israeli bus which killed 37 people, 12 of them children.
Just as you wouldn’t name an urgent care unit after Dr. Kevorkian, you probably shouldn’t name a kid’s summer camp after a kid murderer.
The PLO district governor praised the initiative for remembering “pure-hearted martyrs.”
This isn’t the first time a Palestinian summer camp was named in honor of a terrorist. In 2016, a camp was named after Baha Alyan, who murdered three people and in 2015 a table tennis tournament was named for Muhannad Halabi, who killed two.
Camp activities at Brothers of Dalal begin next month.
