Mike Huckabee Must Pay $25,000 for Playing ‘Eye of the Tiger’ at Kim Davis Rally

Mike Huckabee is on the hook for a $25,000 bill for playing Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger’ during a rally for Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for not issuing marriage licenses to gay people.

Huckabee tried to pass off the rally as a “religious ceremony,” a non-commercial event where the song could be used under fair use, but according to CNN Money he filed the event as a campaign expense, contradicting his claim.

Huckabee then tried petitioning the FEC to let him start a legal defense fund to help the pay off the settlement, but the commission ruled he must pay for it himself.

The rally was held to celebrate Davis for her stance on “religious freedom.” Others saw it as an anti-gay rally, so it’s not a huge surprise that Survivor objected to the use of their song.
