Melania Speech Steal Was Obviously Deliberate—Why Are We Falling for It?

You’re falling for this? Seriously?

Look, of course Melania Trump didn’t write the speech. And of course a speechwriter plaigiarized Michelle Obama. But this wasn’t a mess-up or a foul.

Let’s assume the speechwriter has Michelle’s speech in front of him. He chuckles as he lifts a paragraph practically word for word. He knows perfectly well that this is the age of the internet and that it will instantly be found online.

He also knows that Trump has no money, and that Melania is Trump’s third wife, without accomplishments other than some risqué modeling. He further knows that SOMETHING has to be done to get the media talking about something other than the hellish Trumpster Fire of the RNC convention – Reince Priebus gerrymandering the rules, the WWE style Trump-entrance, the rows upon rows of empty seats, the embarrassing, political pastoral prayer opening – and the total lack of Republican superstars like, say, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He knows that otherwise the narrative will be all about Melania’s thick, immigrant accent, making Donald look like a hypocrite, or those poofy chef’s hats she wore on her sleeves, or reprints of Melania’s semi-nude modeling days. (But mostly the empty seats). The Trump campaign has got to get you talking about something completely different.

In the world of Trump, the not-winning empty seats RNC is the worst topic in the world. So let’s have the model “plaigiarize” the Princeton graduate, the African-American woman that Trump voters detest. It’s another “controversy”. It’s a different topic. Do we give immigrant Melania a hospital pass because she is not a professional?

What about Manafort? What about the protestors who’ve helped Trump’s numbers and who have given up protesting because Trump’s Scampaign Con-Vention is going so, so badly?

We need another topic. In case of emergency, break glass- and let’s get those side by side pictures of over-made-up Melania next to smart-but-aggressive Michelle Obama. By the way, Hillary Clinton never got asked to do any modeling either – you feel me, angry older males that are my core vote?

I guarantee you there will be another “Trump family” scandal tomorrow to get you talking about anything but those empty seats.

Donald Trump may not be winning. But with the fake Melania Speech Scandal, he certainly is spinning.

Update: @RedSteeze points out that, in case you didn’t get this vice signaling, Melania Trump’s speechwriter actually dropped in a Rick Roll. Because if you’re mesmerized by the trolling, you might not talk about the polling. And those empty, empty, empty, empty seats.

PS: Poor Joni Ernst.
