Lena Dunham Returns to Twitter, Eats a Hot Dog, and Addresses the DNC

Hillary Clinton may have just been the first woman nominated for President from a major political party, but Girls creator Lena Dunham had the best day ever.

She’s been obsessed with Hillary Clinton for months, appearing on the campaign trail, often in Hillary-themed sweaters that were less ironic than just plain awkward, and gave blood, sweat, tears and social media followers in her quest to help elect her elderly idol.

You have to believe in something pretty hard to wear a black and white pantsuit festooned with a novelty button design.

So it was without question that Dunham would attend Hillary’s DNC coronation. But lest you miss a moment of Lena’s adventure in the City of Brotherly Love, she cataloged her whole adventure, from Penn Station to Wells Fargo Arena – and she even defied her own self-imposed Twitter sabbatical to do it.

She boarded a bus! In leggings! Like the little people!

She loaded up on campaign swag (a one-of-a-kind art piece of course)

She cut out Hillary’s visage and pasted it on a Popsicle stick like totally normal people do.

She posed with people in patriotic gear – and even ate an arena hot dog.

She got pretty darn excited over the stage.

She chatted with a fellow child of privilege.

She even teared up a little.

And then she livestreamed.

After all that, Dunham and “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrara recited a short list of hackneyed Donald Trump-themed quips and walked off the stage.

But at least it was a fun trip, right?
