Univision anchor Jorge Ramos has bashed heads with Donald Trump in the past over his comments on Mexico – and could not stand the sight of him visiting the country.
The exercise – designed to give Trump a chance to look “presidential” with a world leader (with questionable success) clearly got deep under the skin of Ramos.
Ramos, a dual Mexican-American citizen, blasted both the GOP nominee and, more surprisingly, Mexico’s president Enrique Peña Nieto.
While Ramos’s criticisms of Trump were familiar, the bilingual screed also took Mexico’s government to task for not getting angrier about past slights, and the trademark border wall policy:
This is the question. Is @realDonaldTrump going to apologize for insulting Mexicans? Will @EPN demand an apology?

Peña Nieto was not ready for Trump. Couldn't get an apology or any change on immigration and Trump still wants Mexico to pay for the wall

My column for The Washington Post: Peña Nieto was meek with Trump. Latino voters in the U.S. won't be. https://t.co/Auf6zbmdoO

Media figures routinely – and pretty overtly – go after Trump, but this intervention seems exceptional from a broadcaster with such a huge platform.
Perhaps he is still sore about being booted from a Trump press conference earlier in the campaign?
