John Kasich isn’t ready to endorse presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Not yet, anyway.

“We’ll see where it ends up. I’m not making a final decision yet but at this point I just can’t do it,” Kasich said on Morning Joe when asked if he would fulfill his “pledge” to back the party’s nominee.

Kasich has previously criticized Trump for his “divisiveness” and “name calling” that “doesn’t go down well with me.” But Ohio governor said Thursday he was still open to support Trump if the presumptive nominee toned down his rhetoric.

Kasich joins the growing list of Republican politicians who have openly criticized their party’s nominee. Former primary candidates Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz have also declined to endorse Trump.

The Ohio governor also had some harsh words for the media, accusing the press of fueling Trump’s rise with its non-stop coverage of the billionaire’s ratings-friendly antics.

“Look, it was all ratings,” Kasich told host Joe Scarborough. “Come on, who’s kidding who? I’d call in, you’d get no ratings. [Trump] calls in, you get good ratings.”
