News broke last night that Joe Biden’s son, Robert Hunter Biden, was dating his deceased brother Beau’s widow, Hallie. Now, divorce documents filed by Hunter’s wife, Kathleen Biden, in the Washington, D.C., Superior Court show a number of shocking accusations about the former vice president’s only surviving son.
On top of accusing Hunter, the “sole source of funds to support the family,” of blowing “hundreds of thousands of dollars of marital funds” on “drugs, alcohol, prostitutes and strip clubs,” Kathleen claims that her husband is holding onto a “large diamond … worth approximately $80,000.”
Hunter currently works for the investment firm Seneca Partners. He could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
Shortly after Hunter and Hallie’s relationship was disclosed on Wednesday, Joe Biden and his wife went on record declaring their support of the new couple.
Reading through the divorce filings, it becomes clear that Hunter and Kathleen’s marriage tanked shortly after Beau Biden’s tragic death from brain cancer in May 2015. The divorce filing describes a tumultuous domestic situation that led to Hunter getting kicked out of the house on July 5, 2015, due to “his conduct the night before.” Unsurprisingly, the divorce papers cite “irreconcilable differences between the parties concerning [Hunter’s] conduct.”
Kathleen characterizes Hunter as a deadbeat, who has left the family with “no funds to pay legitimate bills,” “maxed-out credit-card debt,” and saddled them with a “tax debt of at least $313,970.” Her filing paints such a dire situation that the couple has “bounced three checks to their housekeeper and owe medical providers and therapists for outstanding bills.”
She claims that a chunk of the family money was consumed by Hunter secretly spending “lavishly” after the couple’s separation on strip clubs, “other women,” and “personal indulgences.”
Beyond accusing her husband of spending lots of time around hookers and drugs, Kathleen writes that Hunter’s “recent conduct creates situations that are unsafe or traumatic for the parties’ children.” The two are currently fighting over custody of their 16-year-old daughter, Maisy.
Rumors of Hunter’s infidelities began back in August of 2015, when a Robert Biden was among the names listed in the hacked records of Ashley Madison users. Hunter denied any involvement with the extramarital affair web service.
