Ivanka Trump, the main daughter of Republican nominee Donald Trump, will receive U.S. Secret Service protection beginning today, NBC News reports.

It is not out of the ordinary for the children of candidate to receive Secret Service protection, especially for a high profile individual such as Ivanka. Trump’s other daughter, Tiffany, and ex-wife Marla Maples, have had a Secret Service detail since April, as a result of threats made against the family.
The detail began after Trump’s lesser son, Eric, (Donald Jr. is the main son) received a threatening letter filled with a mysterious white powder at his New York City apartment.

Ivanka is a former friend of Chelsea Clinton. Both are members of the Manhattan social elite.
