There’s perhaps no man in the White House more competent and brilliant than Jared Kushner—at least according to President Trump anyway. Why? Well, the 36-year-old real estate developer and First Son-in-Law just got another responsibility: Heading the new White House Office of American Innovation. Sounds neat and vaguely important.
The team of consultants and business executives is being described as a SWAT team tasked with creating a more efficient and effective federal government.
“We should have excellence in government,” said the extremely human and normal Kushner. “The government should be run like a great American company. Our hope is that we can achieve successes and efficiencies for our customers, who are the citizens.”
Given Kushner’s new task force, it’s probably worth reviewing every singe responsibility the guy’s taken on in Trump’s White House:
- In January, Trump said Kushner will work to “broker a Middle East peace deal.” After all, he “knows the region, knows the people, knows the players.”
- Kushner acted as a liaison with China’s ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai in February and acted “as a conduit between the Obama administration and [Trump’s] transition team on Chinese diplomatic matters.”
- The Washington Post dubbed Kushner a “shadow diplomat” on US-Mexico talks in early February. According to The Post, Kushner “inquired about books and articles on the history of U.S.-Mexico relations.”
Truly amazing how he managed to find some time to ski this weekend.
